English Essay Past Papers

English Essay is a compulsory paper in the CSS written examination, and FPSC prints it simply as Essay. The paper carries 100 marks. It holds no MCQs and no second part. The sheet lists ten topics in most years, and the candidate writes one essay on one topic. Time allowed stays three hours in every paper in this set. The printed note orders an outline first. It also fixes the length: 2500 to 3000 words in most years, and 2500 to 3500 words from 2009 to 2014. The note demands mixed forms of discourse: exposition, argumentation, description and narration. It promises credit for organization, relevance and clarity. Those three words mark the pass line. A strong essay holds one clear position, stays on the topic, and keeps its parts in order. A weak essay drifts, repeats itself, and runs out of time. This page collects twenty papers, 2007 to 2026. Clean original sheets for 2000 to 2006 do not survive online, so the collection starts at 2007. Each year page lists every topic that year set and links the original paper as a PDF. Themes repeat across the years: democracy, education, media, women, the economy, globalization and the environment return again and again. Read the lists side by side before you write. Then pick one topic, plan its outline, and write the full essay inside three hours.
