General Science and Ability Past Papers
The General Science and Ability paper is the compulsory science paper of the CSS written examination. Every candidate attempts it, whatever the optional subjects. FPSC ran this paper as General Knowledge Paper-I (Everyday Science) until 2015. Part-I held 50 MCQs and Part-II held 50 descriptive marks. Candidates answered five of the eight descriptive questions. Each question carried 10 marks and mixed short items: differentiate pairs, explain a phenomenon, or write short notes. FPSC rebuilt the paper in 2016 and renamed it General Knowledge-I (General Science and Ability). Part-I dropped to 20 MCQs. Part-II rose to 80 marks and split into two sections. Section-A sets short science questions on the human body, the environment, energy, and everyday technology. Section-B tests General Ability: arithmetic, percentages, averages, series, and logic puzzles. Candidates attempt two questions from each section. This page collects the descriptive papers from 2009 to 2025. Each year page maps the questions the paper actually set and links the original paper as a PDF. Practise with a timer. Attempt Part-II questions in exam order, and write full answers instead of reading the questions only. Pair each attempt with the frequency analysis on the syllabus page. The pairing shows which topics FPSC repeats and where your practice time earns marks.
