Current Affairs Past Paper 2009

FPSC prints this paper under its old title, General Knowledge Paper-II (Current Affairs), and the Current Affairs past paper 2009 splits its time: thirty minutes for Part-I and two hours and thirty minutes for Part-II. Q.2 asks why most countries of the Muslim world are devoid of democratic governance and which changes can make them modern democratic states. Q.3 weighs dynastic politics in South Asia, a norm rather than an exception now, along with its merits and demerits. Q.4 reads the strength of the Chinese economy as a threat to the dwindling hegemony of the USA and seeks the policy changes America needs for harmonious relations with China. Q.5 asks why most countries of East Asia stayed relatively calm and stable in the political and economic spheres while the world turned turbulent. Q.6 calls democracy in Pakistan an elusive dream and asks why the country took so long to build a road map and follow it. Q.7 judges the attack on Iraq as an attempt to control oil resources and redraw the map of the Middle East, then asks which policy options the USA needs now. Q.8 offers notes on combating corruption in developing countries, the free market economy and the economic meltdown, quality of life in Africa, and the economic potential of Central Asia.
