It falls under Group 1 of the CSS optional subjects — Commerce and Social Sciences — alongside International Relations, Economics, Computer Science, and Accountancy and Auditing. Most candidates choose Political Science over International Relations because its syllabus scope is more defined, past papers follow repeating question patterns, and scoring trends are consistently higher than comparable optional subjects. The CSS Political Science syllabus, covers political theory, comparative politics, Pakistan’s constitutional development, international relations theory, and contemporary global issues. Candidates selecting their optional papers can review the full CSS optional subjects syllabus to understand combination rules and group requirements before finalizing Political Science as a choice.
